There are 2 models of the laptop available in the market - one with an 11th Core i3 processor and the other one with an 11th Gen Core i5 processor. But, to keep things simple we’ll only talk about the i5 variant.

As said, the device runs on an 11th Gen Core i3 processor. The processor is a quad-core processor with hyperthreading technology enabled by which the operating system considers the processor as an octa-core one (there are 8 threads in the processor). The maximum clock speed of the CPU is 4.2 GHz. There is 8 MB (L3) cache memory present in the processor.

The CPU contains an inbuilt GPU named Intel Iris Graphics. For information, the Intel Iris series is a giant upgrade to Intel’s old HD / UHD graphics series.

  • DirectX 12.1 is supported by the GPU.

Memory:

Just like the processor, there are two variants of the RAM available. You can either go for an 8 GB DDR4 memory or a 16 GB DDR4 RAM variant that contains 2 RAM sticks of 8 GB each. Both the variants run on 2666 MHz clock speed.

If you are considering buying this laptop for heavy work and are not short on budget, it’s recommended to go for the greater RAM variant (i.e. - 16 GB in this case) rather than purchasing the 8 GB variant and later upgrading it.

Storage (Secondary):

In storage, Dell Inspiron 15 3000 has 3 variants. The first variant contains a 256 GB M.2, NVMe SSD.

If you have a greater requirement for space you can also go for the second variant which comes with a 512 GB SSD of M.2, NVMe technology.

The last variant is for those who want more storage to store files like music, videos etc. It contains a 256 GB SSD of the aforementioned specifications and also contains a 1 TB huge HDD.

Display & Design:

The laptop comes with a 15.6 inch LED backlit display. The display is a full HD display (resolution: 1920 x 1080). Its refresh rate is 60 Hz.

There is a thin bezel around the display and on the top middle place, there is a webcam just like any other normal laptop. Just beside it, there are two microphones placed side by side.

Connectivity:

The laptop has come up with all the necessary connectivity options like USB - A, C, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth etc.

The device has 1 old-school USB 2.0 port, 1 USB 3.2 port & a USB type-C port to connect mobile phones easily & 1 HDMI port.

The version of Microsoft Office supplied with the laptop is Microsoft Office 2021 ‘Home & Student Edition'. This MS Office package includes 4 Office software - Microsoft Office Word, Microsoft Office Excel, Microsoft Office PowerPoint & Microsoft OneNote.

The laptop comes with a trial antivirus subscription for 15 months. During that period the device will be protected by McAfee ‘Multi-Device’ security antivirus.

Pros & Cons:

Pros (👍)

Cons (👎)

1. Good processor for fast performance.

1. Microphone quality could be improved (There is only a single microphone)

2. Backlit keyboard.

2. A bit bulky.

3. MS Office & Windows 11 provided.

Conclusion:

We have seen that Dell Inspiron 15 3000 is a decent performing laptop in its price range. It has been equipped with a powerful processor. But, considering the price range in which the laptop was launched, we think that Dell should consider 16 GB RAM with the device. The display of the device is really good, and we have no complaints about it. The device weighs 1.85, mainly due to the 1 TB HDD. So, the final verdict is that, if you want a solid performing processor and a good display, you can go for the laptop, otherwise you can go for other alternatives too.
